The Endure Cover. How was it made.

When Matt approached me to take on his fourth cover in the Protector series I was a little trepidations. Not because I couldn’t do it, but mainly because I was following in the steps of another designer that had already produced three fabulous covers.  Strict guidelines never work for me. Or at least my designs don’t flourish under strict guidelines, I can competently produce something, but the best work is done when I’m allowed to just interpret and produce. Or at least, so I’ve been told. When I thought about what I...

The Paranormal Book Club Design

Bella wanted a make-over since she switched to WordPress…and keeping with her vampy theme, she asked for a dark, vamped “real” girl. The hardest part, was the search for the perfect stock girl. This is usually the case with me, because a stock image isn’t just about the girl…it’s about the pose, whether her head is cropped, etc. Here is the before, middle and after. Bella picked up the works, with the Best-Seller package and an extra avatar and graphics. See the live version here. More images and fun stuff....

Kait Ballenger Author Website

Have you met Kait Ballenger yet? If not, why don’t you check out her fancy new web site courtesy of this girl… Kait asked for a gritty design that would reflect her sexy Heroes. The covers will have a tribal looking design so those were brought into the design of the site. The heroes of Kait Ballenger books are also Paranormal Romance leads so they had to be edgy, dark and drool-worthy. The site was put together in WordPress. See the live...

All-consuming

Custom Blog Design & Matching Header for Consuming Worlds. To be honest, when some clients tell me what they want…I get scared. Mainly because I’m thinking, “how am I going to do that and still make it look good?” Not that it is a crazy idea or anything, more because it is outside of my comfort zone or usual design scope. On the Consuming Worlds design, I was a bit out of my usual design scope. I haven’t done any “foodie” type blogs…but I have done a few fantasy blogs…so this was a mix...

Lizzy’s Dark Creation

The Blog Design for Lizzy’s Dark Fiction had a very specific spec’d out idea process. Lizzy wanted a warrior female, with red hair, in a pose like she had just thrown a spear. The spear should be embedded in a “bad” book on the other side of the design. Lizzy wanted a dark feel to the design, to go with her “Dark Fiction” theme. The creation process began with two sketches: While I was pleased with these sketches, I wasn’t totally satisfied, there was something wrong. The girls looked like they were...
